Question
Consider the following scenario.
A bookseller would like to create a data warehouse to track book sales activity.
The bookseller has books. Books are identified by a publisher, a genre, an author or authors, and the date the book was published.
Purchases take place on a date at a specific time at a specific store in a specific region. A purchase has a specific amount and a quantity of books associated with it. Purchases are associated with a customer.
A customer has an age (a demographic), a profession, a gender and lives in a particular region.
The bookseller would like to know what type of customer (their demographic, their gender) is buying what books. More specifically, the bookseller would like to be able to run a report which provides information on sales by profession, by gender, by geographic region, by publisher, by author(s).
Identify fact table(s) and associated dimension tables. Note that you are not required to submit an ERD for this question. You can submit a text document which identifies entities and attributes, and identifies primary keys and foreign keys, and identifies fact tables and dimension tables. The primary keys exported as foreign keys should be named consistently, that is, the foreign key should have the same name as the primary key.
