Question
Can someone please help me answer question # 3 only. I attached the answers for questions #1 and 2 because it is needed to answer question #3.
Data from the experiment:
Question #1: Please use the value of the grating spacing (d = 1/n = 1/600 = 0.001666667mm) to calculate the first order hydrogen wavelengths for red, blue-green, and violet. The use d(2) and the second order angles to calculate the red, blue-green, and violet wavelengths. Average the wavelength from first and second order measurements for these three hydrogen lines.
Question #2 below
Answer to Question #2
Question #3: Please answer this question only. Please show all work. Thank you
Esperiment 10: Hydrogen Line Spectra Dat First Order Lines Red ACIR)-15 5215.0 8 eL) la)- 17.51 Violet to(lav)- 15. 110 96Explanation / Answer
some precautions should be taken to set the spectroscope while reading for angle, those are
1) first we need to maintain completely dark room to take the reading for angle in spectroscope.
2) in order to take accurate reading for angle in spectrometer the difference should be clear between bright lines and continous spectrum
suppose we are taking observation for paschan series in this case the transition is from 4th line to 3rd line takes place. Here energy from different higher value from k to j (according to answer in question 2) gives out wave having different energy results in different observation in colour of output beam.
After these precautions
we need to find position for minimum deviation to find refracting index for each spectral line.
Minimum devation postion is not necessary in case colour standerd. In this case angle from right and left both are required. Here calibration curve is required to determine wavelength.
the last step to prove acuracy is we need to check the smoothness of the curve plotted between angle and wavelength. This graph should not be a straight line.
For part b we need to check the values observed in experiment using spectrometrer. So for it please provide those values.
Rate if you find it helping.
thanks
