Explanation / Answer

1. Conflicts among the individuals originate through a variety of factors, as listed in the tool kit. Diagnosis of the origin of conflict helps to address the problem in a systematic way by working on the root cause of the issue. It has advantage of being target oriented, directed to a solution through problem solving approach rather than taking random and uninformed decisions which might aggratvate the problem to the next level.

2. The tools given in the kit enlist the real life causes of the conflicts between the individuals. An example is the difference in the opinions of two individuals X and Y, both belonging to the different areas of a country. One of them (X) assumed an air of superiority owing to his lineage to a martial caste and well built physique. When he was made to work with the other person (Y) who came from a humble background and was looked down upon by X owing to lack of soft skills, unimpressive personality and ordinary looks, differences started creeping in right from the day one. They developed so much acerbity that they had to be counselled for two weeks before they were back to work again. The reason was perception that led to personal differences which ultimately affected their performance at work.

3. The tool kit is a result of well oriented study of individuals and workplaces and includes various scenarios of real life situations that may lead to differences and conflicting situations. The kit is useful in assessment of potential causes of a conflicts, both at workplace and the real life scenarios where factors like lack of clarity of role, environment, personal differences, perception and access to te information may lead to conflicts. The kit provides a solution oriented approach to resolve issues amicably in all spheres of life before they assume serious proportions.
