Question
I'm quite confused about the answer because the µA/meanA(3.1)>medianA(2) and µB/meanB(0.9)<medianB(2), and according to the textbook, right-skewed means the mean>the median. Why here DistributionA is left-skewed and B is right-skewed?
Thanks for any help! : )
Distribution A Distribution B 0.03 0.09 0.13 0.25 0.50 0.50 0.25 0.13 0.09 0.03 4 4 =3.1 uB =0.9 c. Use these results to compare distribution A and distribution B A. Distribution A is symmetric, distribution B is right-skewed B. Distribution A is symmetric, distribution B is symmetric. ° C. Distribution A is right-skewed, distribution B is left-skewed ( D. Distribution A is left-skewed, distribution B is symmetric. E. Distribution A is left-skewed, distribution B is right-skewedExplanation / Answer
we know that the distribution is left-skewed, it will have negative distribution and more ov er its mean will be to the the left of the median.
similarlly right-skewed distribution will have positive distribution with the mean to its right of the median.
here the mean is greater than the median so Distribution B its right skwed
mean smaller than its median. so distribution A is left skwed
so option E is correct
