Question

I just need the solution around 150 words to explain.
Statistical Process Control (SPC) is often described as an applied side of the Binomial, Poisson, and Normal distributions. Many have said that an X-bar control chart is simply a Normal distribution turned on its side. Some argue that our statistics course shouldn't try to cover these applications because they represent an analytical skill rather thana statistical technique. Discuss, first whether or not you agree with the notion that SPC is an application of what we're learning in this class, and second, whether coverage of the topic is helpful in this class. How might your outcomes after this class be affected - positively or negatively - by whether or not we cover Chapter 16 in the text?

Explanation / Answer

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is often described as an applied side of the Binomial, Poisson, and Normal distributions. Many have said that an X-bar control chart is simply a Normal distribution turned on its side. Some argue that our statistics course shouldn’t try to cover these applications because they represent an analytical skill rather than a statistical technique is not right argument.

Not only SPC any other topics are very helpful in our lives. Being a statistics students we should be thorough with all mathematical concepts and its applications. if we left any topic which is a related one has negative effect but we have positive effects if we deal more topics.

Control Charts Statistical process control (SPC) is the use of statistics to monitor and improve the quality of a process, such as manufacturing an engine part. In SPC, information about a process is gathered and used to determine whether a process is meeting all of the specified requirements. One tool used is SPC is a control chart.

Example:

CUSUM, EWMA, zone, individuals, and XR-bar charts all follows a special distribution that called normal distribution. It has a bell shaped and curve and it is symmetrical. It approaches the horizontal axis on both the left and right side without touching.

Binomial distribution is distribution of events and completely used for probability theory and not for any quality improvement.

Poisson distribution expresses the probability of a given number of of events occurring in a fixed interval of time and used in parameters like area, volume, time.
