4. Most of the bright stars lie near the main sequence whereas in case of the nearby stars we can not make the same statement as in this case a lot of stars are away from the main sequence. While answering this problem the stars with unkown or uk luminosity have not been considered and have been neglected from the assumptions.

5. Nearby stars are more representative of "average" stars in our galaxy. The reason behind this is the average temperature and luminosity of the stars in this set as compared to their counterparts in bright stars. Most of the stars in our galaxy are yellow dwarf stars which are not very bright and the nearby stars fit this description quite perfectly.
