I have an exam tomorrow and I'm confused Ch8: Problem 5 Previous Problem Problem ListNext Problem (1 point) The standard deviation of the length of snowboards in a board shop is 1.29 cm. A random sample of 17 snowboards is selected and found to have a mean length of 152 cm. Find a 95% confidence interval for the true mean length of snowboards in the board shop. Your results should be accurate to the nearest hundredth cm (at least). Answer: 151.34 to 152.66 cm Note: You can earn partial credit on this problem. Explanation / Answer
From the language of the problem it is clear that given standard deviation is of population. So here you have to use z-distribution. But if sample standard deviation is given then you have to use t-distribution with proper degree of freedom.
