Question

Please give feedback 250 words to the below;

A group became a team when they work interdependently to produce shared results. Life cycle of teams consist of 5 stages.

I'll be offering activities for teams in organisations rather then sport team (as in Remember the Titans example).

Forming. Getting to know each other. It's time when member get to know each other and formal purpose of the team. It would be beneficial for team development at this stage to give plenty of information about task/project at hand and facilitate dialog between members so they could know each other better on a personal level. Sharing some basic personal details and backgrounds would be good too. For example, for our virtual team of coaches who became an organizing committee for Conference it was as simple as stating our names, city we represent and type of coaching we do.

Storming. Dealing with tensions and defining group tasks. Goal for this stage is to create deeper awareness about team members and align team purpose with individual goals. Facilitation of group discussion will help to get clarity about following questions: What each team member expect from this team? What does he/she wants to contribute? It's about Team values, abilities, personalities and diversity. By the way, this stage does not have to be marked with conflicts as it's shown in Titans. It might be just lack of clarity and stability which cause extra emotions in people.

There are psychometric assessments (for example Lumina Spark) which help identify not only individual strengths and weaknesses, but those as a team. As you can see on the picture below the average focus of this particular team is very much moved towards extroverted side meaning they probably will be great at communication but they currently lack resources in the area of big picture thinking (vision), analysis (introverted) and practicality of their decisions (down to earth). people who posses those quality as individuals have to step up and play those roles for the team to be balanced.

Norming. Building relationship and working together. It's a stage there feedback mechanisms, decision-making methods, operating procedures and communication rules are to be formed. Some training on related topics would help. Also classic team building activities such as rafting, team games, rope course etc will help to strengthen emotional bonding.

Performing. Maturing in relationship and performance. 360 assessment to get clear view of how team and each individual is performing. Team and one on one coaching for performance. Famous coach Marshal Goldsmith offers his method for team coaching - "Team building without time wasting". You can watch him here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq2CnccWdPs . It's very appropriate for performing stage of team development. At this stage effective team should regularly go through the cycle: Goals - Actions - Feedback - Adjustment - New Goals...

Adjourning. Disbanding and celebrating accomplishments. Most common way of celebrating end of the project is banquet with rewards if appropriate. If not, a meting highlighting accomplishments can be held. Little souvenirs work well as a tokens of appreciation. Team reflection - team should answer 2 questions: What are wins? What could be done better? Also team should summarize it's experience and create a document which can be a hand over for the next team on a similar project.

Explanation / Answer

NOTE- The images in the answer are not loading and I have tried to reload them for about 4-5 times so the critique of the write-up is based on the text which is visible to me.

The overall language seems fine, but can be improved by using better vocabulary and highlighting the main points of the paper.

There is a spelling mistake of THAN which has been written as THEN in the 3rd line, as you are comparing one thing with another you should use the word THAN.

To make the representation better you can add a couple of flowcharts to the paper, one major one which shows the steps of group formation and the other a small one in the sub point PERFORMING, where you are talking about a cycle of Goals, actions, feedback, adjustment and new goals.

The questions given at the last of the write up can be in bullet points for better representation and less confusion.

Also before directly diving into the steps of team/group formation you should talk a little bit about the context of the text and try to give the reader a better taste of what you are writing.

Hope This helps..
