Question

I need some help with a question for a research methods class. This is based on a research study that I conducted throughout the semester about How Color Affects a person's mood. My hypothesis was: "Since color affects both physical and psychological feelings of people, there is a call to know what color to use for a particular space. The principal goal of this discussion is to investigate the emotional effects of various colors on our emotions and feelings to make wise decision when selecting a particular color for a specific aim." and i need to answer the following question:

We discussed a variety of analyses that could be used to process your data. What inevitably occurs, is that the choices you make when designing your method and subsequently your survey largely determine the statistical analysis that you can perform (for better and for worse). Below are the four main statistical tests. First, define each in your own words (not the statistics behind it, but describe it generally for an unfamiliar audience). Second, using your current research project as the basis, for each one, write a research question or hypothesis that could be tested using that analysis (this may take some creativity), state what your independent/subject and dependent variable(s) would be, what level of measurement each one would need to be (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio), and how your method would change to accommodate this new approach (if necessary). Finally, state what you would need in order to consider your hypothesis supported or research question answered

a.      T-Test

b.     ANOVA

c.      Correlation

d.     Regression

Explanation / Answer

Emotional effect of people should be on interval or ratio scale.

Colors is a nominal scale.

In this case, dependent variable, emotional effect, is in interval or ratio scale and independent variable(colors) is in nominal scale. So ANOVA is the right test to check if color has any effect on the emotions of people.
