What is the average waiting time before the reception? On average, how many customers dining ala carte are in the University Club during lunch time (excluding those at the reception area and waiting for receptionist)? a. b.

Explanation / Answer

We know that there are total 240 customers during lunch time.

Among 20 customers, 40% of them are choosing buffet. Hence 96 customers are choosing buffet.

Hence 60% of 240 customers i.e., 144 are choosing A-La-Carte.

We also know that four customers choose to sit on one table. So there are 24 (96/4) tables that are being occuoied by customers having buffet. Whereas,36(144/4) are being occupied by customers having A-La-Carte.

Now, If we count all the minutes it takes to serve a group of 4 customers, choosing buffet. It takes exactly 31 minutes to eat, pay and leave.

a )Hence the average waiting time would be 31/24 customers = 1.29 minutes.

b) On average, the customers present at the alacarte area in tthe club are 144.
