Here the regression coefficient for judicial independence has changed more drastically from (-0.68) to (-0.45) as compared to change in regression coefficient for GDP per capita which has changed from (-0.0515) to (-0.0489) which is just a miniscule change.
So, for variable "Judicial independence" Introduction of democracy variable is more important to control. Here in practical terms we can also see that more democratic country tend to have more judicial independence. But GDP per capita is not as such as related to democracy as we can monarchy in middle east and China are not democracy but high GDP per capita country.
