Solution :
Let x = cartons of food
and y = cartons of clothing
=> Maximize Z = 12x + 5y
=> 25x + 5y <= 7000 ------(1)
=> 50x + 20y <= 22000 -------(2)
These equations can be reduced
=> 5x + y <= 1400 ------(3)
=> 5x + 2y <= 2200 ------(4)
By solving (3) and (4) equations,
x = 120 , y = 800
=> The number of cartons of food is 120 cartons
=> The number of cartons of clothing is 800 cartons
=> Maximize Z = 12x + 5y
= 12*120 + 5*800
= 5440
=> the maximum of 5440 people can be helped when you ship 120 cartons of food and 800 cartons of clothes
