Question
I recently took an internet analytics course and we used Google Analytics as a resource for data. Google is a great source for Big Data. It has Google Trends which gives you statistics on search volume for any given term since 2004. There is also Google Finance and Google Books Ngrams. These sites can definitely help all companies in one aspect or another of their business. It can help them identify trends that can impact their industry so that they can strategically plan and make decisions from that information.
Great recommendation on Google analytics use. When doing an Internet search for the top 10 tools for Internet analytics, Google usually comes out on top! It would appear that analytics usually help a business in any industry.
That being said, is the data always accurate?
Explanation / Answer
Google is a an American multinational technology company that specialized in Internet based service and products. Google analytics is one of the product which provides a web service to track the website of a particular company and report traffic on that particular website.
There might be some instance where data might be inaccurate due to following reason.
1. A lot of thing depends on skew metrics such as session count, bounce rate, etc which indeliberately provides a inaccurate data. For eg. If the bounce rate is more than 30%, it will show an inaccurate data.
2. Sometimes there is a possibility that a user may use multiple channels to visit the website. He may use smart phones as well as laptop to visit the same website. This gives the inaccurate data as same user is consider to be having visited twice but the data appears to be as two users.
3. A spam can be an issue where traffic does not come from users. Even, if the user excludes bots, the problem still remains in google analytics.
