Question

Please DO NOT copy from any website, I need to be unique. Any Idea! Any thought would be great.

Length should be at least 2 pages preferably double spced.

This NOT a research paper -- I'm interested in your own personal experience in this area.

I have been doing this for a LONG time so I know how Psych 100 students write, so I wouldn't try pasting something from the Internet.

Also, if something doesn't feel right collage uses Turnitin.com which will let me know if your answer came from somewhere else.

In the Psych for Life at the end of Chapter 3, they discuss various strategies to control pain.

After reading this section, write on some/all of the following questions or take off anywhere you went to go as long as it pertains to the topic of pain control.

Honestly, I’m surprised that they put this topic here instead at the end of the next Chapter which covers meditation and hypnosis, both of which can play a role in reducing pain.

BTW, don’t try to BS me on those two topics since I have a reasonable amount of experience in both, as you will see.

You are not required to post about Acupuncture -- I just thought this was an interesting video, especially since so many student want to considerthis as Pseudoscience

Acupuncture – I can’t tell you how many times students have used this as an example of Pseudoscience. I always said that it wasn’t and that it had a long history over the centuries in China.

Now I have a reference in the textbook to point out to them.

Before you are too quick to say that this is just BS, or whatever you want to call it, I would suggest that you might want to take a look at this British Broadcasting System (BBC) program!

It runs almost an hour but I think you might find it very "intriguing"!

Did watching this change your point of view on this topic?

Since I have accepted this procedure for a long time, it didn't change my point of view but it certainly expanded my knowledge on the subject and I lost track of how many times I just said OMG and continued to watch....:-)

Can magnets relieve pain?

Would the placebo effect tie in here?

What strategies, procedures have you tried in your life to reduce pain?

Some that worked

Some that didn’t

These are just some “suggestions” and as I said above, take this where you want to go!

P. S. You can also go to YouTube and type in "acupuncture" or "“acupuncture surgery without anesthesia” but I will warn you in advance some of it’s pretty graphic.

Good references to book/video lesson; psych vocabulary good; appropriate application to person life to book/video; appropriate application to personal life

I know some of you dont have acces to chapter, its fine just make it by other information that I provide like video etc..

Explanation / Answer

The topic discusses the role of steam in disinfecting the body. The body is invaded by various strains of bacteria and viruses which can destroy the cells of the immune system. The patient is the given case study is suffering from NA which is called as neuroacanthocytosis syndrome. The red blood cells formed in the body are defective and give the appearance of a crenated structure. The lipid metabolism is altered and the membrane of the neurons degenerates in the old age. This is due to the degradation of the myelin sheath. The structural proteins forming the membrane of the red blood cells are defective and mutant. The degeneration and degradation of the basal ganglions takes place due to the vitamin deficiency in the body. This causes dementia and neurodegeneration in the old age. The gene for this chromosome is found on chromosome 9. The disease is characterized by retinitis pigmentosa and having deficiency of the enzyme panthothenate kinase which is essential enzyme for the formation of the vitamin B5 in the body. The substrate panthothenic acid forms coenzyme A in the body. This metabolite is essential for the activation of the metabolic processes in the body. The coenzyme A is made of pantoic acid, beta alanine, betacystamine,3' phosphoadenosine, diphosphate and organophosphate anhydride.

The disease acanthocytosis causes shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing and pneumonia due to serious infection in the lungs . It further causes the destruction of the red blood cells and other immune system cells. It is common in McLeod disease.

1) The magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, computerized tomographic scanning is done to analyze the regions of the brain including the gray matter and the white matter in the brain. The regions of degradation of the cells can be analyzed in the brain scan reports.

2) The patient was treated with a steam therapy to disinfect the body and destroy the pathogens and microorganisms causing infection in the body. The heated steam at a very high temperature causes the death of the microorganisms in the body. The patient disease shows recovery by more than 33% as compared to other patients given only the medicine therapy and not steam therapy.

3) The treatment for pain includes the prescription and intake of pain reliever drugs which bind to the opioid receptors in the brain of the patient.
