Question

I have to reply this comment can I get help please. A couple of reasons for including and removing Gender Dysphoria from the DSM are as follows. Removal includes no scientific evidence proving that children are born with it and cases like Jazz's displaying that no damage is present mentally. Reasons for inclusion include a great deal of not being comfortable when talking about and associating with their biological gender. Also, it can cause distress in all aspects of life and lead to other disorders. It would be very rough having a child that is transgender. I would of done a similar thing that the parents did and dressing up Jazz like a boy. It's so hard at a young age to realize what a child wants. Also, this being a huge decision will make parents weary of change. Once the child becomes the age to fully understand everything going on (age of 5-6, like Jazz), then would I let them have control over dressing as a boy/girl. I would give them a choice for the rest of their life on the topic too. Seeing Jazz as 14 years old did influence my thoughts because she looks like a girl and seems fine mentally

Explanation / Answer

One of the greatest relief for people in the 20th century was that more groups evolved to fight for individual rights such as right to equality, education, property, voting etc. People were given the rights to choose what they do with their body. So choosing one’s gender beyond their biological make-up. The world has slowly started to realize that there is a person beyond their physical body. This has opened up the doors for transgender and most of the developed countries along with same sex marriages have legalised their status. Countries with strict religious cultures are still struggling to accept that as a normal thing.

It shouldn’t be treated as a disorder rather should be treated as a personal choice and just like men and women have the right to live as they wish, transgenders are individuals who should be given their rightful place in the society. The child should be given enough orientation and time before they could make their decisions.
