1. State which social determinant of health you selected and a particular related issue for that determinant (e.g., Employment. Lack of sick leave policies)
2. Describe how that social determinant may influence health in general. (e.g., delays in care and health diagnoses, more health complications because of delays)
3. Describe how this social determinant may influence maternal or child health specifically. (e.g., pregnant women may skip prenatal care visits so that they don't lose income by missing work)
Explanation / Answer
1. Lets us take the social determinant of Unemployment and Job security and the issue of financial stability.
2. This social determinant can hamper the psychosocial well being of an individual. It can induce stress and anxiety within an individual if they experience job insecurity and/or face unemployment. It can also lead to an eventual depression as there is a self that can being to seep in after a brief while of facing unemployment.
3. A woman and/or man might not be able to dedicate enough time to the home environment or well being of the given child due to a bigger stress factor of not being able to financially provide for them.
