Explanation / Answer

The purpose of the study was  to trace changes in response expectation, preparation, conflict monitoring and subsequent response inhibition from 6 years of age to adulthood. The conflict monitoring theory proposes that anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) contributes to cognitive control by detecting conflicts in information processing and signaling when increased top-down control is required. The brain activity was studied in children and adults from ages 6-23 years. The AX-CPT task was used to measure which is frequently used as a cognitive control task to examine context processing and goal maintenance. Behavioral measures indicated that attention processes developed most strongly before age 10, whereas impulsive behavior only started to diminish after the age of 10. It just studied the child development behaviours mostly the cognitive behaviours.
