Question
ASSIGNMENT: Consider the actions of Gurov in Chekhov's short story, "The Lady with the Dog," in light of the essay, "We Have No Right To Happiness," by C.S. Lewis (you will have to research and find this essay). Decide whether or not you agree with Lewis as regards Gurov's quest for happiness as you see or understand it, and explain why, using the story, Lewis' essay, and one other relevant secondary source to support your position; this additional source must be an academic, scholarly, or critical article from a scholarly or critical journal or book, and not from a web site or popular magazine. You must quote and discuss at least four passages from each of these three works as part of your discussion. The paper must be 1000 words (no fewer, no more) excluding quoted passages, titles, authors’ names, citations, and useless filler language such as “I think,” “I believe,” “In my opinion,” “I feel,” etc. Make absolutely sure your paper meets the word count as stipulated, since you are not going to be able to develop a substantial argument otherwise. Avoid summary; summary is not argument. All citations must conform to MLA rules, as must the paper's Works Cited page.
EVALUATION CRITERIA: Papers will be graded based on content and mechanics (grammar, spelling, clarity, etc.). As this is the final paper of the semester, expectations regarding both content and mechanics will, of course, be high, meaning that I expect nothing less than solid university level work that you can be proud of from each of you. Please remember that this paper counts as much toward your final grade as the first two papers combined. This is not a paper to take short-cuts with or to treat as a homework assignment (i.e., a middle-stakes writing assignment). This is truly a high-stakes writing assignment on which almost a third of your final grade will be based. If you do exceptionally well on this paper as compared to your earlier papers, I will weight this paper even more heavily in determining your final grade.

In the book by CJ Lewis the story protrays the role of couples who are facing the problem of infidelity and are not faithful in the relationships towards each other. It depicts the characters of A,B, C and D where A divorces B to marry C who has divorced D. The story depicts how they are happy towards each other after re-marriage after sharing of emotions and attaining a stage of complete happiness after remarriage. The couples ideas were also very similar and have a tendency to agree with each other. It explains the feeling of sexual satisfaction which drives and energizes us without the realization that it has swept away our culture, race and civilization. It comes at a cost of family heredity and lineage with realizing our race and phylogenetic history.
This novel is compared with the relationship of Gurov with his wife. Gurov thought earlier on that his wife was not compassionate, not charming and attracted him for a relationship. His wife realized such feelings and was in a state of depression with suicidal feelings. Later he developed attraction for her with a sense of beauty and sexuality which developed strong emotions and feelings for each other . It explains how infidelity can develop in relations if there is lack of understanding and lack of cooperation between husband and wife. It can lead to divorce. There was a rejuvenation, differentiation and metamorphosis of love and emotions after both of them understood each other and their significance of being adulterers and the development of sexual compatibility in life. They did not feel any guilt and remorse in their relationships with each other. The gospel displays the act of self-realization with self-awareness with less tendency to be distracted and set yourself in bewilderness with a variety of thoughts and emotions in life. It explains the ability to realize relationships with families and not expect an sudden windfall of money and enthusiasm independently in life leading to distortion and distraction in life. It can lead to engagement in life in wrong and meaningless observations in life and emotions. This compares the infidelity and relationships between families and life traditions. There should be concentration, focus and dedication in life with hardwork and sincerety to achieve goals in life even if it does mean much to everybody else and receives less praise and motivation from others.
