Your 20 year-old son is still living at home. He has a job at a local fast-food restaurant and makes enough money to pay for his car and to provide his own spending money. He does not contribute to household expenses or buy his own clothing. He was a B student in high school and does not want to work in the restaurant as a career, but he is not sure what he wants to do. He spends most of his free time with his friends from high school. Although you do not object to your son living with you and he is helpful around the house, you are concerned that he is delaying making some important choices.
Describe issues that might be relevant in this case scenario, such as the son’s levels of cognitive and moral development (Piaget, Erikson, Kohlberg), issues relevant to choosing a career or job (Marcia), and ways that as parents one can foster the development of autonomy and independence in children. You need to explain your answer in relation to the theories described in the readings. In your own opinion, do you think this young man is in a good position as he enters adulthood? Why or why not?

Introduction :- As, in this question its described that a boy is in his Adulthood age means around 20 year, but yet stay with his family doing his study in B school and doing part time work too for completing his other needs too but, he dont spend money in household thing or in his clothes , But he used this money on maintaining his car. If we look at this stage according to the theory and studies of those psychologist mentioned in our question then he is in that stage in which he is an end of adolescence and start of early aduldhood according to Erickson"s. Means, we can say that he is in that stage of his life where he is struggling for his own identification and trying to understant his own role call in his life and also in that stage where he need someone company for his support.
And, with the help of Kolhbergs theory of Moral development he is already in stage of conventional morality as in Kolhberg theory age is not mentioned but at the age of 20 a individual develop enough to understand his worng and right and start judging the morality stage.
So, with the help of both the theory i can say that he is more curious to fulfil his dreams and fantacy in this stage but at the same time his moral development ask him to judge his responsibilty and duties toward his life that's why he is getting not satisfied with the work he is doing that time because that is not a relevant job which he want . But, he cant leave that also because right now he need that job. But, no doubt he is in good position as he enter to adulthood , in this stage almost every individual face same issue in there life , where, they get confused with options they are having around them and with there potential.
