Explanation / Answer

1. "When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground." This is an African proverb. It means that there's a wealth of knowledge there from life experiences and a lot to be learned from elders, which gets taken away with their departure.

2. "If the wife sins the husband is not innocent". This is an Italian proverb. It means that if a wife is found to have committed any sort of adultery, it is likely that her husband has had a role to play in the same.

3. "All sunshine makes a desert." This is an Arabian proverb. It means that too much of a good thing can actually have negative consequences.

4. "He who lies on the ground can fall no further." This is a Yiddish proverb. It means that those who hit "rock bottom" have nothing to lose.
