I would like to know what’s important to you as you decide what type of job you would like after graduation. What motivates you? There are a list of 12 factors at the beginning of Chapter 16 that you might consider when selecting a job: high pay, good working conditions, friendly and supportive colleagues, flexible working hours, opportunities for growth and new challenges, considerate bosses, inclusion in decisions that affect you, fair and equitable treatment, job security, promotion potential, excellent benefits, freedom and independence. This is not an inclusive list, and you may place more importance on other factors that aren’t mentioned. Write a paper of the top five factors that will be most important to you when making your career choices and why. The factors that motivate me are good working conditions, friendly and supportive colleagues, flexible working hours, opportunities for growth and new challenges, excellent benefits. I look for these elements in a company when I apply for a job after my graduation. The company I am planning to work for is Amazon. Having good working conditions is very important because it directly affects the work environment of the company. This shows how people interact with each other and what kind of infrastructure is provided by the company. Amazon gives a lot of importance to this and makes sure that the employees are happy inside the company. I will have to work with people in my team so it also important for me to have friendly and supportive colleagues. Amazon hires people who have similar mentality but from different cultural backgrounds. This makes it amazing to work for the company. There should be people around me to support and encourage when I want to learn something new and also experiment with a new tool or technology. Amazon believes in fail to learn more policy and this is exactly what I am looking for in a company. It is good to have fixed working hours but it should be flexible for an employee to work according to his needs. People need to have a good work-life balance and that is possible when they have flexibility at work. Especially the parents of the newborn babies need to have this to have a comfortable life. The company has always identified the needs of its employees and given them enough comforts to make them feel at home when they are working. Flexible working hours is a great option to have but the employee needs to make sure that it does not affect the quality of the work done. The employee will feel relaxed and fresh mentally when the working hours are flexible. Amazon is one company where the employees have the freedom to choose the working hours according to their comfort. An employee will join the company with an intention to grow his career and learn new skills that can add value to his profile. At Amazon, the top performers are always identified and appreciated for their hard work. The employees will get new opportunities to learn every day. There is no boundary to learn and achieve at Amazon and they have a very open culture when it comes to working. They will allow people to take responsibilities and encourage then succeed. Even a junior level or entry level employee will be respected equally at the company. I have seen people working in the company with great satisfaction and appreciation for the management of the company. This company has developed into a machine that produces excellent talent. The pay at Amazon is one of the best in the world. Even an entry-level employee after graduation is paid well because the company believes in investing in its employees. This investment is repaying them in different ways and the company is growing at a rapid pace. The company does not follow a fixed hierarchy to increase the salary. The employees are paid according to their ability to contribute to the development of the company. The company also provided other benefits like gift vouchers, paid holidays, paid maternity and paternity leaves, and work from home options. These will provide the employee enough reasons to enjoy working for the company. The above-mentioned factors are very important to me and they keep me motivated enough. They help me in managing my professional and personal life very well. I have always wanted to work for Amazon as they provide more than what I have discussed here to an employee. The company loves its employees and the employees perform well to contribute to the growth of the company.
