Question

Discussion - Equity Theory I find the equity theory fascinating. This theory was developed by J. Stacey Adams and is discussed in Chapter 16 of the textbook. It reminds me of so many situations throughout my life when I compared myself to other employees (input-outcome ratios). You could take this theory a step further and apply it to other areas of your life outside of work-situations with siblings, other family members, friends, etc. In at least 4-5 sentences, talk about a time when you found yourself using the equity theory and what resulted. This could be professionally or personally. Equity theory: The theory that an employee compares his or her job’s input-outcomes ratio with that of relevant others and then corrects any inequity Referents: the persons, systems, or selves against which individuals compare themselves to assess equity Distributive justice: perceived fairness of the amount and allocation of rewards among individuals Procedural justice: perceived fairness of the process used to determine the distribution of rewards

Explanation / Answer

I used equity theory predominantly during my college time.During college time we appeared for examination and result declared,I compared my result with that of mine other friends who have similar level of cognitive abilities like me. I saw the result was quite different some were scoring above marks than me and some lower. I talk to the people who scored both above and below than mine. I learn the what they are doing to score more marks than me and applied that. The result I got was awesome.
