Explanation / Answer

Discussion 1:

First we need to understand the fact that why most unions have opposed free trade agreements, such as NAFTA. There are following main reasons to that

a) There are trade agreement with the developing countries and trade union does not want to support the decision of free trade agreements among these countries.

b) Second reason is there is a layoffs in a private sector which were non-farm and due to which trade union opposed the move of work which was outside the country.

c) Another reason is the increase in industrial output which was increasing annually as per report of Federal Reserve.

Since most employer lobbying groups have supported such agreements. The best example of this is American Automotive Policy Council.

Discussion 2:

The main cause of transnational collective bargaining was the rise of multinational corporations has made the production of production increasingly wide and with this product are directly being marketed to the different countries across the borders. With this change the conflicts between the labor union have become an increasing issue because of this the bargaining issues have become to arise. The cost of labour in the developing countries was cheaper than the home country and the companies have started outsourcing the manufacturing facilities outside the countries to avail the competitive advantage. This has effected a lot to the in house labor and layoffs have increased in the private sector organizations.
