I agree with the concept of cherishing the lives of five people at the cost of one. I believe that if a situation came down to having to choose between one person sacrificing their life for five others, I'd agree to sacrifice the one person's life every time. Further, this concept corresponds to modern society in the sense that many people feel their lives are worth more than others as a result of wealth, race, religion, etc. I completely disagree with this mindset as I believe everyone is equal; flesh to bone. So realistically, sacrificing the driver's life over the five other innocent pedestrians would be the most selfless decision based on the value of lives of the pedestrians. Lastly, if there was any way to completely avoid this entire situation and save the lives of both the driver and the pedestrians, I'd be open to working around that decision. But, based on the way the task question is asked, I'm assuming this decision is out of the picture.

First of all God forbid but if there arises a situation like this I would say that you made a wise decision because as sad as it may sound to even sacrife a single life as everybody's life matters but to spare many more lives than one is also a work of virtue and good deeds .If I were you I think I would completely agree with what you said and also about the wealth , the race, the religion I think when in times of need people will have to keep sicjbtjings aside and also situation will probe them to do so and analysing on a large scale I feel like most people would agree with your decision and np I do not see how we cam save both the lives.
