Question

Chad is a collegiate lacrosse player in Arizona. During preseason and in-season training, the team will practice for hours, often in 80-to 90-degree weather. The coach incorporates fluid breaks during practice; however, he allows the athletes to consume only water. The coach believes that sports beverages hinder performance and therefore forbids the athletes to consume them. The athletes complain of feeling fatigued, lethargic, and light-headed by the end of practices. 1. What are the problems in this scenario? 2. What should the athletes do to feel better throughout the duration of their practice?

Explanation / Answer

Ans. 1..Athletes are practicing the whole day but still getting the water only.the main reason why they r feeling fatigue is

First of all as they are practicing their body is using glucose but they r not getting any glucose from outside thus the blood glucose level decrease and the glucose to muscles and brain also decrease so they r feeling such symptoms

Moreover as they r excersicing their occurs the anaorobic respiration which produces lactic acid which is the other cause of such symptoms

Ans 2....To feel better throught the practice duration they must replenish their glucose levels.they can add glucon D which can be consumed with water
