Is there any scientific evidence to back this up, or is this just a myth? Explain. 2. A lot of people who have lost the sense of smell also say that they lose some of their sense of taste. Why do you think there is a link between taste and smell looking at it anatomically? 3 You walk into the kitchen and are overcome with the smell of freshly baked pie A few minutes later your tiend walks in and says "MMMthat pie smels amazing-You notice that you can no longer smell te pie aner being in the kitchen for a whle Explain this phenomenon Task 1: Create a new discussion post on or before Friday at 11:55pm EST by clicking the "REPLY HERE" post. Task 2: Ater you have created your new discussion post, you are required to read and respond to a minimum of 2 of your response to this activity should include your answer to each of the questions above. Each answer should include a minimum of 5 Going over the minimum sentence requirement is acceptable, however, I am not looking for an essay classmates discussion posts. Each of your responses should be a minimum of 5 sentences. Think of your responses in terms of a contribution to a dialogue, not a writing exercise or a chat room Elaborate a single idea and keep your post short but concise as if you were holding a conversation with your classmate(s) Incorporate what you have learned from your weekly reading material and from your own real-world experiences Because this is a criical thinking exercise it is important that you do your best to evaluate and assess the discussion without bias r judgneent You are expected to properny cite in APA format, but do not use direct quotations Be as thorough as possible when writing your Criticall Thinking Exercise topio/posts, and remember, this is an academic assignment, so no ted-talk no conversational tone and ABOVE ALL OTHER THINGS dont plagiarizel Lastly, spell-check and prooread y Failure to follow these steps will negatively impact your gradeExplanation / Answer
1. It is obvious that when you lose one sense, your brain will rely more on information from other senses to help you. When a person loses their vision neurons responsible start processing sounds stronger and faster. Lose of vision affects pathway that sends information to the primary auditory cortex- a region of the brain that help in processing sound. The connection between neurons become strong when vision is impaired.
2. Taste is also called as gustation and smell as olfaction. Taste and smell are separate senses with their different receptor organs with they are interconnected. Smell and taste belong to our chemical sensing system (chemosensation) . The senses of smell and taste combine at the back of the throat. Both smell and taste use chemoreceptors. Taste and smell work together to create the perception of flavor when we eat something. A person's perception of flavor is reduced if he/she has congested nasal passages.
3. In this phenomenon our noses got adapted to smells. For example: when you first walk in a room you overcome a smell of a freshly baked pie, the odarant molecules waft through your nose and get in to odor receptors, which then send signals to our olfactory bulb of the brain. Therefore our brain identifies the odor, the receptors in our nose switches off and you can no longer smell the pie after being in the kitchen for a while.
