III Special Circulations The pulmonary circuit, cranial circulation (cerebral arterial circle) and hepatic portal circulation of adults as well as fetal circulation will be discussed. Refer to chapter 21 in your textbook for descriptions and diagrams. Be sure you understand the reasons for these modified circulatory patterns. Lab product Complete the table by indicating the differences between cats and humans for each of the vessels. Your instructor will give you instructions on how to accomplish this. 26Explanation / Answer
Aortic arch : in humans the aortic arch branches into 1) Branchocephalic artery, which further divides into right common caratoid and right subclavian. 2) Left common caratoid. 3) Left subclavian.
Aortic arch : In cats aortic arch branches into 1)left subclavian 2) Branchiocephalic artery which further branches into right subclavian, right common caratoid and left common caratoid.
Left common caratoid artery : In humans left common carotid artery comes directly from the aortic arch.
Left common caratoid artery : In cats both common caratoid arteries branch from brachiocephalic artery.
Common illiac artery : In humans common illiac artery branches into internal and external illiac arteries.
Common illiac artery : In cats, they do not have common illiac artery but has two branches that branches directly from the abdominal aorta.
External and Internal jugular vein : In humans the internal jugular vein is about twice the diameter of external jugular vein.
External and Internal jugular vein : In cats it is opposite to that of humans. external jugular vein is twice as large as internal jugular vein
