Explanation / Answer

4. Epidermal cancers are carcinoma. These are of three types; squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and melanoma.

Dermal cancers are sarcoma.

5. Tactile corpuscles and Merkels discs are expected to be found on the palm because the palms require greater nerve sensitivity.

6. The fingertips, face and lips would contain the most tactile corpuscles and Merkels discs because of their function of differentiating texture, shapes, etc.

7. Fingerprints are left behind because the dermal ridges on the fingers, toes, soles and palm are extensive and they indent the overlying epidermis leading to the formation of epidermal ridges. Fingerprints are left behind because sweat pores open at top of the dermal ridges.
