Question
Part B - Heavy Fluid Restriction Amy has been on a moderate fluid restriction diet for her "heart condition" for a long time, but recently she has been getting worse. Her feet are swollen, and she put on 4 lb of "water weight. During her last doctor's visit, she was advised to lower her fluid intake even more: from 30 ml/kg of body weight to 25 ml/kg She has all this fluid restriction all figured out from previous recommendations. How much (in fluid ounces) does she need to cut her fluid intake? Amy is 5'4" and her regular weight, when not swollen, is 127 pounds. Round your answer to the nearest whole number. During calculations, use values rounded to the first decimal place.Explanation / Answer
ANSWER:
Present weight of Amy is 131 lbs which is equal to 59.5 kgs approximately.
Recommended fliud intake per kg body weight is 25 ml.
Hence for 59.5kgs the fluid intake should be approximately 1.5 litres and in ounces it is approximately 50.7 oz.
For 127 pounds she is advised 30 ml per kg body weight that is 1.7 litres which is 58.5 ounce.
So as per the present recommendations she need to cut about 7.8 ounce of fluid intake approximately.
