Question

Answer the followig questions below:

1. what type of adrenergic receptor is found on arterioles and when stimulated at high levels, causes vasoconstriction? (be specific)

2. These cells of the heart have both adrenergic and cholinergic receptors on their cell membrane. (make sure to give the cell type and location on answer)

3. Increased release of this signal molecule causes dilation of the systemic arterioles.

4. For your answer in question 3 what kind of signal molecule is it AND where does it come from?

Explanation / Answer

1. Alpha 1 adregenic receptors are found on arterioles and when stimulated at high levels causes vasoconstriction. The alpha 1 adregenic receptors mediate many responses of sympathetic nervous system. They are also involved in flight and fight reaction as well as circulating homeostasis. They cause vasoconstriction to regulate vascular tone and blood pressure.
