Answer: Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS)

i. SNS is another division of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), along with Parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) and also responsible for controlling involuntary actions/functions of the body as PSNS does.

ii. SNS primary function is regulation of ‘fight-or-flight’ response.

iii. Basic level of SNS activity helps in maintaining homeostasis in the body. It can increase the heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, pupil size etc.

iv. SNS activity is complimentary to that of PSNS.

v. SNS includes cervical ganglia, celiac, mesenteric ganglia etc.
