Many small retail shops around the word in developing economies rely on manual inventory management. which leads to wastage of human efforts. the primary reason for their not using inventory management softwares is that they do not have the spare money to pay for software prices, quarterly rents etc. But what can be done is that they can group together in numbers of say 5-10 and then purchase and custom build a software for their collective needs. This will be much easier for them to purchase and at the same time software companies can get access to large untapped market particularly in asian countries such as india, pakistan , bangladesh , china etc.
The process would be very simple just have a number of bar code scanners connected to central system. And as soon as the product is sold it will be scanned and through code the system will deduct the inventory of that particular shop. It can also be linked to generate financial returns and can be a successful experiment indeed
