1) Catawba tree species or Indian beans are native to United States near the Ohio and Missisipian rivers, Canada, areas of North America, East Asia and Caribbean ( source- eol.org, nature.mdc.mo.gov)
2.a) Scientific name- Catalpa bignonioides, Family- Bignoniaceae( source-www.britannica.com)
2.b) Catawba trees have very large and beautiful leaves. They have orchid like beautiful , large and showy flowers. They have long bean like pods that come after the flowers.The fruits of these plants totally resemble the pods of bean tree. So, they are also known as Indian bean tree.
2.c) Although the common name of catawba tree is Indian bean tree but the name is misleading as Indian bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) belongs to family Fabaceae (Leguminoseae)which is different from the family of catawba tree that is bignoniaceae. Also pods of Indian bean tree is edible, but that of catawba is not edible.
3. A capsule is a membranous covering like structure which is made up of two carpels that contains seeds and dehisces at maturity.
