Summary
For a better understanding of the behavioral findings and to make them uncontroversial we need to understand the underlying biological mechanism for them. Advances in neurosciences have demonstrated that; the brain is far more plastic at all ages than previously thought. Thus now it has been understood that behavior can shape the brain to a much greater extent and speed than imagined earlier. Thus our biology is not our destiny; experiences of our life have a powerful role to play in our cognitive development. Several mechanisms can affect our cognitive development like:
Neurotransmitter systems like the Prefrontal Dopamine System and PKU Cognitive Deficits. Early experience has powerful effects on brain, body, mind, behavior, and gene expression.
Thus this article is basically an extension of the work of Jean Piaget, who considered that cognitive development was dependent upon both biological maturation and interaction with the environment.
