Question

Here is the hw question. "Suppose a new study tells you that parental income (growing up) is a key determinate of health. Another study, released around the same time finds income (growing up) is highly correlated with personal income. Given what we learned from the study, what conjectures can be made about the presence of bias on the coefficient associated with income?"

The value for the income coefficient in the model is -0.172298 and the dependent variable is Health Score of a Person. I conjectured this: "Would conjecture that if your parents had high income while you were growing up, that 1) you will most likely have higher income and 2) your health will likely be better." Is this correct or is there a better answer?

Explanation / Answer

Pental income does not tell how healthy we grow up and it is also wrong to conclude that high parental income makes our personal income high. Good nutrition and upbringing will help us have good health and a nice income. Parental income help us to survive and study but cannot tell where we will get our jobs and our salary. Hence the given statements are not correct .One should not conjecture by th eincomplete information .
