It may be helpful to think of career management as a philosophy and set of habits that wl enable you to achieve career goals and develop career resiliency. Successful career management is accomplished through regular habits of building relationships, engaging in career development conversations, updating your career development plan, and setting new goals as life and career needs change. Being proficient at career management also means possessing basic skills related to job searching and managing changes in a resilient manner Years of change, restructuring, outsourcing and down-sizing have caused people to take a more active role in managing their careers. Career Management is one of the most important aspect in any professional organization. Every employer will be very keen when comes to career management of an employee in the organization. In the organization I work, there is a separate team who continuously work towards career management of an employee and regularly they conduct meetings with the group to explain the importance of career management and also they work with the mangers of the team to understand how the career management of the each team member is happening. There will be a lot of class room trainings conducted to teach and coach the people on how to build the career in life. This would really help many of the people in leading to successful career.
Every employee will have to go through different stages in the career. The first stage is obviously the beginner where in the person will need to get in to a right company and the process where he can learn the business and learn the professional behaviour to grow further in life. In this stage all the employee needs is proper training and a good mentor who can teach the process and also an exposure to some extent where the person can showcase the talent.
The second stage of the career is the middle stage where an employee will grow in the industry with good position and salary with job security. In this stage the person would have already become an expert in the system and all he needs is a good opportunity to showcase his talent to grow further in life and also an opportunity to take up risk and additional challenges to move ahead vertically in the career positions.
Atlast the employee would have to go through this tough stage which is the last stage of the career. In this stage an individual would not have too many expectations when it comes to work because the person would have served really good long years in the system and all the person would need is money to settle down further in life. Also the person would be expecting to work as many long years as possible. In this stage most of the people would have achieved bigger positions in career and there would not too much planning about career rather than retirement plans.
Yes, it is very much agreed that UAE is the best place to work. However from many years there have been a lot of migrants in UAE and thus caused too much traffic when it comes to work in UAE and the opportunities are slowly started decreasing in UAE. In such scenario’s it is very difficult to do the career management since the job security is slowly reducing and the employments are in stake. In this scenario it becomes very difficult for the individuals to take a decision whether to be in the same place or to move ahead to a different location and company for proper career management. Nobody can stay long in this situation.
When it comes to Career management, the Human resource team plays a vital role in any organization. Any problem with people they are the one who come in between and solve the issue. So, the HR team has to be very well aware of the career management for employees and should be able to tackle all the issues. Each person in the company will have hisher problems and dealing with problems are not easy. It is not easy to satisfy everyone in any company. Always there is going to be 20% unhappiness and it may lead to many good resources quitting the firm and can be a loss to the company. Manging the career of each employee is not easy.
