Question

I have not been apart of any business projects. However, I have attended many report outs for kaizens and listened to those that have been involved in looking for solutions to a business need. One most recently is looking at how to cut down on the cost of our hotmelt hoses and guns, this is being done as a Six Sigma Blackbelt project. So far they are in the data collection phase. How often are the hoses and guns being changed, what are the reasons for the changing of hoses and guns? Also, they are taking into consideration how these tools are being used and treated. Are they being hit off of the build tables, stretched too far, allowed to fly back and hit shelves. Also, they are sampling different glue and various hoses from different suppliers. The stakeholders are our the builders, maintenance, plant management, corporate product development and other assembly facilities. If we find a solution to this issue that is not only at our plant, that will be a significant win for the company in savings. Right now they are still in the data collection phase of the project. next will be the analysis phase and then once they see where the data leads it will be presented to plant management in hopes of a total savings of at least $50,000. One driving force for this project is economical. We are currently in a sales lull and the new fiscal year for us is just around the corner, so budgeting for that fiscal year is almost complete. Right now they are looking tighter than last year, so any savings will be helpful.

Please answer the below question in regard to the above reading

Project Background:

Currently we have a Six Sigma Black belt project of exploring how to cut down on the cost of our hot-melt hoses and guns. So far the project is in the data collection phase and the collection of all related issues for the project for proper analysis. We are also sampling different glue and various hoses from different suppliers for the project outcome. The stakeholders are the builders, maintenance, plant management, corporate product development and other assembly facilities. The solution to this project will be a significant win for the company in savings. We are expecting a total savings of at least $50,000. One driving force for this project is economical. The sales for the year are low so anything added in the sale will be beneficial to large extent.
