Question

Please write a short response to each of the paragraphs below:

1.

Are corporations moral agents? Do they have moral responsibilities? What do you think companies should do to make themselves more moral organizations?

Corporate moral agents are people who have full knowledge of the laws, they will suggest the right thing that’s considered ethic and will advise what is wrong and/or wrong. I think that corporations can be seen as moral agents. Moral decisions are choices that are made with no bad intention behind it, therefore, I think that the people in corporation should have moral responsibilities. These responsibilities can be exercised by implementing rules and explaining the policies to employees. The rules and policies should follow morals that are ethic in the workplace. If these policies and rules are not followed by employees, it will not only affect the companies image but also it will create an unsatisfactory workplace.

2.

A moral agent is a person who has has the ability to recognize the difference between right and wrong and can be held accountable their own actions. So, yes I do believe that corporations are moral agents. Corporations consist of multiple people making moral decisions on behalf of the corporation and the company should therefore hold complete moral responsibility. A corporation is not composed of a single person governing the entire ordeal, instead it consists multiple people coming together trying to do what they believe is the best for the corporation.

I believe that in order to create a moral organization those having leadership roles should vocalize and model organizational behavior, in other words lead by example. They should ensure that they are actively studying the cultures around them and trying to build an environment that rewards those that are engaging in such behavior.

Explanation / Answer

1. No corporation is completely moral. They tend to take inethical path at some time. But every organsation must try to be on the moral side for a better society and better life. They need to keep social responsibility in mind while taking decisions and must try to get their job done without effecting anhyone negatively. This requires a lot of effort but can be achieved. Every organsation can be a moral agent if they stand by rules and follow proper standards

2. While it is true that a corporation is not a single person, it is also true that a capable leader can make any organisation a moral agent. Leaders must encourage the employees to stand by ethics and never cross them. They must come up with methods which gives best results and will be morally good. The identity of any organsation comes from it's employees and this can only be done by effective leaders who can guide the employees through what is right and what is wrong.
