Question 1-      Discuss in your words the definition of Ethics

Ethics deals with the individual morals and principles which are not cast in stone and found in legal books but which a person must adhere to in order to follow those principles.

Ethics at the core is related to right and wrong conduct and also the standards of profession or behavior. For example, cheating the customers based on wrong marketing messages by companies is an ethical issue. Whether the benefits proclaimed by the product or service is right or wrong depends on the ethics of the company and marketing professional.

Question 2-      Discuss what is the difference between "Illegal" and "Unethical" acts.

Legal acts are driven by the government and lawmaking bodies where the laws are clearly stated for a right or wrong act. So, an act is illegal if it does not follow the rule books of law. The illegal acts are governed by enforcing agencies like justice department, law and order department, etc.

Unethical acts, on the other hand, has no written laws and books, these are some pointers and actions expected by an individual and professional in a given context. For an unethical act, the deciding body is not the government or justice department, but the individual himself/herself. It is the conscience of the man which decides whether an act is ethical or unethical.
