The significance of TCP is as below:
It is a systematic layer of protocol which permits many different type of processing which are necessary to be carried out by different forms of systems by consuming least amount of information and also help to route all over the local area, wide area and software defined networks. This is highly scalable and efficient to implement in any s/w or h/w and can be universally used for any general purpose networking.
The first computerized network was Semi-Automated Ground environment (SAGE) which was used for US Militants as a radar system. The place of origin was US.
Advantages:
Helped to connect with various sites and various networks of telephones, modems and teleprinters as well.
This was the first idea which lead to have the microcomputers later.
Disadvantage:
Large systems which were associated with large network equipments and costed a billion dollars.
