Question
Information—Business Intelligence or a Diversion from the Truth? President Obama used part of his commencement address at Virginia's Hampton University to criticize the flood of incomplete information or downright incorrect information that flows in the 24-hour news cycle. The president said, “You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter. With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations—none of which I know how to work—information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.”
Do you agree or disagree with President Obama's statement? Who is responsible for verifying the accuracy of online information? What should happen to companies that post inaccurate information? What should happen to individuals who post inaccurate information? What should you remember when reading or citing sources for online information?
Explanation / Answer
Answer) Well, I completely agree with Mr. Obama's statement. The news which is not accurate is not good at all for people. It creates a kind of misguidance amongst the people which make them feel something negative or positivie about someone without even knowing the exact reasons.
The ones who manages all the online servers of those online newspapers must be reposonsible. Also, the governement should keep a check over such news agencies that they should not upload such non justified piece of news
The companies who post such inaccurate information must be warned at first and if they don't stop.. their editor license should be cancelled. This will be most strict action but will create kind of example in front of the other who are thinking to do the same.
We need to remember that we alwats read news from the trusted publishers only and instead of believing directly on the same.. one should consider certain facts in their mind before coming to any result.
