The very first step in software life cycle is the information gathering process. This step is very crucial since the software developer must know the problems faced by his client. Then upon that he can decide what technologies he may need while developing the product. Thus the second phase of the software life cycle comes into picture, which is Resource Gathering.
Next step is Modelling, in which the overview of the software is made, which includes the working, appearance, behaviour of the software.
Next step is Design and Implementation, In this stage of software development life cycle the entire software is developed into the end product. This includes actual coding part of the software.
Next step is Testing, It is important to test the software before handeling it to the client, the software developed might contain some bugs, thus it is the job of the developer to hand over well tested and bug-free product to the client.
The last stage is Maintainance, It is the misbelief that once a product has been developed and handed to the client, the job of the developer is finished, which is not the true case, the developer is responsible for the overall maintainance of the software, even after it has been delivered to the client.
A plan is the overall steps that should be taken to complete the task assigned to oneself. If all the desired conditions achievements are made, then the plan is called as successfull plan. This includes the feasibilty check, then time and efforts put while working on the plan etc. A good quality product is developed if a good quality plan has been followed.
