You can follow below steps at your workplace
1. First step is to get good understanding of the requirement of client and get a good grasp of what has to be done
2. Approach the solution in an high level using flow charts or some sort of pictorial way
3. Take intiative and get yourself assigned with some part of requirement like some user story under your name
4. Try to do the development following all the requirements that have to be met
5. It will be good practice to do unit testing so that you can detect few defects and fix them
6. Then you can get it verified by the QA team and fix the issues if they report any.
7. Try to deliver your work with in time and try to spend few hours more if necessary as that will show your intrest and you can develop your skill doing that.
8. Try to learn good code practice skills from seniours in your team.
9 Always show positive energy and maintain good communication with team and dont be afraid to ask up any doubts to managers or team members no matter how small that question is.
