Question
Combining these two facilities into one would not be appropriate as it would directly reduce the overall efficiency of the system. Other than merging these two facilities, each facility should be merged with a processor as the processes are capable of doing the entire process previously which this facility can perform while their combined. Hence matching the facility with the regular processes and adding a new facility into the structure would definitely be a better term for maintaining better productivity of the line.
By merging this specific facilities overall productivity of the line would be reduced when creating independent facilities with independent lines would be beneficial for the organisation for maintaining a productive as well as more efficient line.
Explanation / Answer
Another option under consideration for the design of a new line is to combine the facilities 1 and 2 into a single new facility with three parallel identical servers, each of which would be capable of doing the entire processing that the previous two facilities performed. Would you recommend that the two facilities be combined into one? Explain.
