Here you have to find out that which is better to purchase either cylindrical shaped cup for cold drink or cone shaped..
To do so you should look for which can have more quantity as the price is same for given heights and diameters.
So for calculating quantity you should use volume formula of both shapes, also you have to calculate the cost with tax that whether with that amout is it possible to purchase.
To calculate the price say for given parameter cost = $3.75 + tax, tax = 8% therefore tax = 8% of 3.75 = 0.3, now price = 3.75 + 0.3 = 4.05.
Now if you have $5 you can purchase the cup of given heights and diameters, but which one is more profitable to purchase, to find that we calculate the volume of both as:-
cylinder cup volume = 22/7 * (1.5)^2 * 6 {diameter = 3 , therefore radius = diameter/2 = 1.5}
= 42.42
cone cup volume = 1/3 (22/7 * (1.5)^2 * 6.5
= 15.32
As per the answer buying of cylinder cup is much more beneficial than that of cone since cone is 27 units less than the cylinder cup.
