Question

See pic below.

From Left to right.

PVC Pipe >Shorter length -metal> Aluminum> Longer length metal

1. Drops magnet and chalk at different times in the PVC tube and they both fall freely

2. Drops magnet down alumnium (3rd metal tube) and it takes a little longer (Compared to PVC tube) - hear sound, but friction is small

3. Magnet dropped down longer tube and shorter tube at the same time, but the magnet comes out of the longer tube first.

4. The magnet dropped down from the shorter tube takes the LONGEST time also w/ no noise.

How do you explain this?

Explain why is it that PVC tube doesnt care about magnetism at all?

Why is it that all 3 other tubes (which are metal) (short, long, and alumnium tube) arent attractive to magnet at all, Yet, the magnet, didnt just have a freefall

Why is it that the shortest one, did not let the magnet go down fast compared to the longer one?

If this is confusing, I can send a video to you, but I could not attach one here.

Electromagnetism

Explanation / Answer

PVC is made of insulating material and has no free electrons. Thus no current can exist in PVC pipes. No induced current means no induced magnetic field. Since PVC was unable to create an opposing magnetic field, thus we can say that it doesn
