Question

I have two partial questions, on Question 1 I am getting the magnitude wrong. On question 2 "Part D direction". Evrything else is corrct on both questions but I am off by more than 10% on both questions. Please help.

1.) A coordinate system (in meters) is constructed on the surface of a pool table, and three objects are placed on the table as follows: a 8.0-kg object at the origin of the coordinate system, a 16.0-kg object at (0, 2.0), and a 24.0-kg object at (4.0, 0). Find the resultant gravitational force exerted by the other two objects on the object at the origin.

magnitude     ?????
Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 10%. Double check your calculations. N direction

Explanation / Answer

a) Net force = [((8*16/4)*G)^2 + ((8*24*16)*G)^2]^0.5

where G = gravitational constant

and net force = 228.0907 * 10^(-11) N

b) D part

=> [( 38*1.93)^2 + (38*9.8)^2]^0.5 = 379.553 N

since the forces acting on them are perpendicular to each other in both questions so we need to take square root of both the forces after squaring and adding them.

and direction is = 258.8588
