Many would argue that the effective use of information systems is a competitive requirement for businesses today. Businesses rely on an array of technology systems in order to function on a day-to-day basis. Because of the different operational roles within a business different functional areas have different requirements for these systems. This can be a unified system or a collectio of more specific applications. In this week's discussion will be examining how these parts together and how an organization can insure that all functional roles understand what the others are doing Considering this please address the following prompts in your discussion: Why do all the business units in an organization that uses technology need to be involved in developing management information systems? . . How does that relate to the goal that a "knowledge-management repository" can be used throughout the organization?Explanation / Answer
1. In case of Management Information Systems we have CIO's(Chief Information Officers),CTO's(Chief Technology Officers) ,IT directors,MIS directors,Information Security Analysts,Database Administrators,Computer network architect etc.,All these people are most important in the development of information systems.All these business units have their own way of knowledge and they have their own task . Management Information System is the study of people,their decisions,technology and the relationships among them .Everything is interlinked with the technology now a days .Since every member of the team is required to complete the project in a stipulated time in the same way the information system is also been completed here we have the CTO's and CIO's who belong to high position upon whom the entire project or system mainly relies.These cader of people act as the decision makers they suggests and gives out the implementation process.Once this process gets complete then this is been taken to the consideration of IT directors and MIS directors who act as the incharge of the technical implemetation of the project.After the implementation the users gets the access.In general we need a Databaseadministrator to manage the data and control and safeguard it by authenticating each and every user similary every one in the team had their own way which needs to be interlinked with one another so that the work gets completed effectively and peoperly.Since the data is been collevted by one stream of people and is ben processed and is been modified by another group and is been used based on the required problem statement and is been implmented by another stream of people thus every one are involved in making the system in perfect and efficient manner.So it is important to make all the business units to get involved in building the Management information system.
2.A knowledge management repository is the place where the organization or enterprise data gets shared,managed,and used by the organization.It is generally an online database that which captures,organizes and categorizes knowledge based information.The data is more important now a days and is been vastly getting increased since the organizations had many data it is to be circulated always inorder to get analysed ,shared and to be used.Since the main objectives of the Knowledege management which is culture,infrastructure,measures and technology are those which shows that the sharing of the knowldege and developing of a processs the collaboration all these can be done with in an organization to analyze the data and to implement it continuously through out the project so it is to be used through out the organization inorder to manage the knowledge .
