Identify one major challenge (i.e. technology, policy, economic, personnel, global influence, training and development, etc.) facing leaders in your field today and make two recommendations on how this challenge might be addressed to ensure organizational success.Explanation / Answer
I work in a high technology industry in a mid sized company dealing with big data, in a developing country. The major challenge faced by the leadership is the shortage of qualified and bright professionals in the field. The sources of skilled manpower are limited,as there are few insitutes that produce quality professionals. These quality resources are promptly hired by the blue chip companies that pay them well and provide ample opportunities for their career progression through continuous learning. What is left, are low calibre professionals who are hard to train and lack qualities that make good professionals. Though the pay and career prospects are good in this company, it can't match those in these big organisations.
The first recommendation is to redesign the pay structures and job design to attract the best candidates in the marketplace. Other is to design the career progression plan to enable the new recruits to take the leadership and problem solving positions early in the career ( which a blue chip company seldom offers) and create the change makers through world class training and practical learning.
