If so, how so? If not, why not?Explanation / Answer
Answer :
1. The five strategic essentials are as follows :
a.) Inspire through purpose.
b.) To go all in.
c.) To enable people with capabilities which they require to succeed during the transformation and beyond.
d.) To enstill a culture of continuous learning.
e.) In a transformation a leader needs to have a vision, a clear road map with milestones and one needs to hold people accountable . Be directive and inclusive.
The common element in all the above points is that, that they all are focused on putting people first.
2. The strategic imperatives discussed by hemerling overlay with Daft's discussion of complexities and dynamism in many ways.
These strategic imperatives are difficult to implement in the actual management practices in the organisations which are divided into many parts, are interconnected, interdependent and autonomous.
3. Yes, there are certain limitations to the approches which Hemerling is recommending.
Our traditional management systems and Hemerling's concepts are focussed relatively closer organisational systems.
But today, the post industrial organisations face much more complexities including enabling of effective forms of governance, acheiving collaborations among companies across larger supply chains around the globe etc. which require more complex management systems.
Hence, a holistic view is required instead of parts while managing.
4. To enstill a culture of continuous learning is the element which I have noticed at school.
My teachers always attended seminars on various subjects and this method of continuous learning in the area of teaching helped our teachers to educate us better with even more confidence.
5. If any organisation want to put people first, superiors/ organistions would require people to provide them more authority and use the financial resources according to their discretion which would be beneficial as the finances would be directed towards the areas where they are actual required and when they are required for best results.
